Our Mam

Our mam was one of the bravest and proudest people we knew.  She battled 6 lots of cancers and the treatments finally took their toll on her.  She was so funny, had buckets of dignity and was well known in the community.

Her view on life was to live it! Only dust if you must.

She loved to dress up and together we spent hours and hours and hours looking at and trying on clothes.  We had many good times trying on hats, fancy frocks and jewellery.  Our under clothes were a sight to behold, sucky in knickers, all in ones and always trying to look the size 10 that we never were - more like 20.   She had such a keen eye for an outfit for all of us.  I used to love going to see her because she had alwasys spotted something for me - whether it was a handbag, necklace, pair of trousers, dress or tights... anything went.

Mum was so good at spotting great outfits that every time i went to take mum out, we ALWAYS, ALWAYS had a fashion show first.   She often changed her outfit 4-5 times.   Together we swapped clothes and just had lovely times.  I would ask her to be ready for 11am, but we never left her home until at least 2pm because we were trying on clothes.   That was ok though, because we were together, chewing the cud, like  I could only ever do with my mum.

More often than not, mum would be on the telephone when you arrived.  She sometimes would have had a shower or was covered in tanning lotion and waiting for it to work its magic.   Even though it drove us mad that she was NEVER ready on time, I really miss this.

I miss the laughter at daft outfits, the 20 outfit changes (you often couldnt see the bed because of clothes) and more than anything i miss the chat, the tears together and her big hug , like only your mum can give.

God Bless Mum... xx
